REFLECTIONS

Lelia Roberson (nee Daniel), daughter of the late Alec and Mary Frances, was born in Clarksville, Tennessee on November 9, 1919. She departed this earthly life to be with the Lord on August 20, 2020 at home. Lelia resided in Westwood, NJ from 1927 until her passing and received her early education through the Westwood Public School System. She was a faithful member of the Mount Zion Baptist Church and when she was able, served with the Willing Workers and The Friendship Circle. Her most recited scripture was Matthew 6:9-13—The Lord’s Prayer. Lelia’s love of The Lord and of people found her fellowshipping with neighborhood churches regardless of denomination. Through her phenomenal memory she maintained close contact via telephone with just about everybody she knew – family, neighbors, friends near and far—never forgetting phone numbers. The most important thing in her life was to love the Lord and The CHILDREN AND GRANDS which she and the love of her life, James Franklin Roberson shared. Lelia came from– very humble beginning which served her well. She learned how to “make it work.” James and Lelia prospered to become homeowners. She helped support the family through working for multiple families in Pascack Valley as a domestic/housekeeper. She grew to love them and they loved her. An especially memorable family was Dr. Ken Delafrange. The relationship was so strong that their daughter, Suzanne chose Lelia as her permanent second Mom. To this day the family remain bonded. Lelia is predeceased by her parents, 2 siblings Roy and Iris Daniel; her husband, James F. Roberson, and Frances Roberson Beasley, daughter. She leaves to mourn 4 Children: James Franklin Roberson Jr. (Shirley),Mississippi; Lelia Martina Polen, Westwood; Henrietta Polen (Benjamin) Westwood; Stephan Mallory Roberson (Gail),Queens, NY 10 Grandchildren: David Beasley Jr.; Lelia Delores Wiley; James Roberson 3rd; Jennifer Jane Polen; Benjamin Polen Jr. (Yunmi); Jonathan Polen; Stephen Polen; Aisha Polen; Justine Cruise-Roberson; Camille Cruise-Roberson. 6 Great Grandchildren: Noah, Jacqueline, Whitney, Vincent Wiley; Sariyah Polen; Nichole Scott. Nieces and nephew (partial): Jihad Daniel; Barbara Roberson Gardner; Carol Daniel; Gloria Campbell, and a host of other relatives and friends. The loving memory of OUR Lelia Daniel Roberson cannot be eradicated.
